Update
Effective March 25, 2022:
Following the ruling in Veteran Warriors v. McDonough (2022) by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, Veteran Warriors, Inc. has taken steps to further protect its name and brand publicly.
3. U.S. Federal Court Recognition
In Veteran Warriors, Inc. v. McDonough, 29 F.4th 1320 (Fed. Cir. 2022), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit recognized Veteran Warriors™ as a distinct legal entity with associational standing to challenge federal policies and regulations on behalf of veterans, caregivers, families, and survivors. This ruling confirmed the organization’s credible, operational identity and established its legal right to represent affected constituencies in federal litigation.
The Court affirmed in this precedential decision:
-
The organization has a defined and active membership base that is directly affected by VA policy and regulation;
-
The organization represents individuals directly harmed by VA regulations and policies;
-
The organization’s mission is directly relevant and related to the litigation subject of the legal challenge;
-
Individual members are not required to directly participate to have standing.
By affirming these criteria, the Court recognized Veteran Warriors™ as a nationally credible, distinct legal and operational identity with authority to engage in litigation on matters of federal concern on behalf of those it serves. The ruling solidified Veteran Warriors’ right to represent its community in court and reinforced the priority, legal distinctiveness, and enforceability of the Veteran Warriors™ brand—even in the absence of federal trademark registration.
Recognition by Federal and State Agencies
In addition to judicial recognition, Veteran Warriors™ is acknowledged by multiple federal and state agencies, including the:

4. Recognition by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

This logo is used in commerce to represent our services, programs, and organizational identity. It is protected under:
-
The Lanham Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 1051 et seq.)
-
Federal and State Trademark Laws
-

Logo Composition and Protected Design Elements
The Veteran Warriors™ logo consists of a composite design featuring the following integrated components:
Three-Dimensional Star Design
The Veteran Warriors™ logo features a distinct five-pointed star that incorporates a stylized representation of the American flag:
-
The upper left segment displays white stars on a blue field
-
The right side and lower left segment include red and white stripes flowing diagonally
This star is bordered with a metallic-silver and white beveled edge, producing a three-dimensional layered appearance that enhances visual depth and brand distinctiveness.
-
The beveled, layered design is a non-functional decorative feature that contributes to the logo’s distinctiveness and protectability under trade dress law
-
This dimensional design is consistently visible in all final logo applications and is considered a core aspect of the Veteran Warriors™ brand identity
To reinforce proprietary claims:
-
The top right point of the star displays a Trademark (™) symbol
-
The bottom left point displays a Service Mark (℠) symbol
These symbols indicate active claim to the logo, name, and slogan—whether federally registered or protected under common law.
Legacy Star Design (Monochrome)
The Legacy Star is a five-pointed, monochrome stylized star featuring a black-and-white representation of the American flag. Originally part of Veteran Warriors™’ founding identity, this mark remains in selective use for commemorative and visual branding purposes.
Design Characteristics:
-
Left segment: white stars on a black field
-
Right and lower segments: black and white stripes
-
Slight beveling to create a subtle three-dimensional metallic appearance
-
Entire design rendered in monochrome grayscale
Common Use & Placement:
The Legacy Star is most commonly featured as a visual separator in the Veteran Warriors™ slogan:
“One Family, ★ One Fight!”
This usage—featuring the Legacy Star between the words “Family” and “One Fight!”—has become a recognizable treatment of the organization’s core motto.
It also appears in:
-
Commemorative banners and digital graphics
-
The embedded center of the lower dog tag in the primary Veteran Warriors™ logo
Legal and Brand Protections:
The Legacy Star (Monochrome) design is protected under:
-
U.S. trade dress and trademark law
-
Common law protections based on longstanding use
-
Copyright law for original design work
Any unauthorized use, reproduction, or modification of this star design—particularly in its slogan-integrated form—is a violation of Veteran Warriors™ intellectual property rights and will be pursued accordingly.
Dog Tags and Chain Configuration
Two gray metallic military-style dog tags are draped diagonally across the star on a beaded chain:
-
The dog tags are suspended across the star via a detailed beaded chain, placed diagonally for naturalism and depth.
-
Both tags are shaded, beveled, and layered to appear metallic and dimensional, reinforcing the 3D visual language of the logo. The curved chain loops behind and over portions of the star, providing visual continuity and dynamic movement.
-
-
The upper dog tag features a subdued grayscale U.S. flag image next to the slogan:
“One Family, One Fight!”™-
This phrase is central to the organization’s mission and protected as both a slogan and source identifier.
The phrase is noted with a service mark (SM) symbol.
-
-
The lower tag displayed a faded silhouette of the Veteran Warriors™ star logo behind the prominently displayed name, “Veteran Warriors”, reinforcing brand identity and visual layering.
The phrase is noted with a service mark (SM) symbol. -
The dog tags and chain orientation, the font treatment, and the diagonal layout are exclusive to this mark and contribute to the overall distinctiveness.
These elements form a cohesive visual structure and are legally protected as part of the composite logo under trademark and trade dress law.
These elements reinforce military heritage, national identity, and legal originality, and are integral to the protectability of the composite mark.
Typography and Layout
The engraved words “Veteran Warriors” and “One Family, One Fight!” are rendered in a custom-stylized, beveled military-style typeface, designed to simulate authentic engraved dog tags.
This font:
-
Is not publicly licensed and has been visually altered for exclusive use by the Veteran Warriors™ brand
-
Features angled cuts, beveled depth, metallic shading, and contour lines to create a dimensional, embossed appearance
-
Is carefully aligned to the curvature of each dog tag, enhancing realism and visual unity
-
Is not used in standard communications and appears exclusively in official brand artwork
The customized font styling used in the logo is a distinctive visual element of the Veteran Warriors™ brand and is protected under trade dress. This design is not interchangeable with generic fonts and cannot be reproduced without authorization.
This stylization is exclusive to Veteran Warriors™, and any use, imitation, or reproduction is prohibited without express authorization. It forms a core element of the logo’s distinctiveness and legal enforceability.
Font Access and Authorization
The customized font styling used in the Veteran Warriors™ logo is a proprietary visual element. Access to this font—whether in original or modified form—is restricted and governed by internal brand policy.
-
Only authorized design personnel or contractors under a written agreement may use or access the font file or its modified version
-
The font is used exclusively for official branding and logo applications
-
Use in general communications, emails, or internal documents is not permitted unless expressly authorized
-

Internal use of the font must comply with brand protection policies and requires approval from the Board of Directors or designated officers.
Proprietary Embedded Features
The Veteran Warriors™ logo contains non-visible embedded details that serve to verify the authenticity of the mark and protect against counterfeiting or unauthorized reproduction.
These internal design elements:
-
Are intentionally obscured and only identifiable through specialized review or under certain conditions (i.e., forensic analysis)
-
The [REDACTED FROM PUBLIC VIEW: specific location] incorporates a discreet embedded design. This includes:
-
A unique [REDACTED FROM PUBLIC VIEW: specific marker] mark embedded within the [REDACTED FROM PUBLIC VIEW: specific location] logo serves as a proprietary biometric-based identifier.
-
Occasionally, a proprietary image-based element may be used within the [REDACTED FROM PUBLIC VIEW: specific location] as part of alternate variations, though this is not standard.
-
-
These hidden details function as anti-counterfeiting mechanisms, used solely for verification and to reinforce the authenticity and origin of the logo.
-
They are never authorized for public reproduction, disclosure, or modification.
-
Are legally protected under trade dress, copyright, and privacy laws
-
Not intended for public disclosure and redacted in legal descriptions to preserve security of our brand.
Any attempt to replicate, extract, alter, or distribute unauthorized versions of the logo—particularly those that compromise protected embedded features—will be treated as a violation of Veteran Warriors™’ intellectual property rights and pursued through appropriate legal channels.
Design Flexibility
While the logo components may appear in separated or rearranged formats (e.g., star only, dog tags only), the full composite (shown above) is the primary trademarked identity. Each component, whether used together or alone, remains protected.
Use Restrictions
Veteran Warriors, Inc. strictly prohibits any unauthorized use of its protected brand elements. The following actions are expressly forbidden without prior written authorization from the Board of Directors:
