History

Veteran Warriors is a national Veterans’ advocacy, service, and support organization founded in 2009 by Navy Veterans Lauren and Jim Price. Together, they worked tirelessly in enterprise-wide advocacy for the VA process and legislative improvements. What was once a small Facebook page working on local veteran-related issues has blossomed into a thriving nationwide organization with a reach and influence beyond its founders’ wildest dreams.

On March 30, 2021, Lauren Price passed away from toxic exposure-related illnesses from her Iraq deployment.
Today, the Veteran Warriors team continues the mission Lauren started in 2009. The team serves as a strong voice for the Veteran and family community on all fronts: health care, resources, toxic exposure, caregiver program, survivor benefits, education, and various forms of assistance with navigation and research.

Mission
Veteran Warriors’ mission is to "fill the gap" by identifying deficiencies and offering reasonable resolutions. Our team provides experienced Hill advocacy, assistance, direction, education, media, community outreach, navigation, research, resources, and more for Veterans, caregivers, families, and survivors of all eras.
There is no "one size fits all" in the Veteran community. We approach each need individually to meet the needs of that particular situation.
We strive to be the change for those we serve who feel as if they have lost their "voice" within the bureaucracy.
Vision
Veteran Warriors™ envisions a just and equitable system where the Department of Veterans Affairs transforms from an adversarial process into a collaborative partnership that honors all who served and those who stood beside them. In this future, veterans, caregivers, families, and survivors experience reduced wait times for both care and benefits, supported by cooperative providers who prioritize dignity and respect. Disability ratings consider all factors and reflect the complex realities of veterans’ conditions, rather than dismissing them through misinterpretations such as pyramiding. Caregivers receive inclusive caregiver support, surviving families are safeguarded with survivor benefits that provide lasting financial security, and all veterans and families affected by toxic exposure gain full recognition and accountability. Transparent processes, holistic evaluations, and a genuine commitment to “err on the side of the veteran” ensure that fairness, dignity, and justice are lived realities for every veteran, caregiver, family member, and survivor across all eras of service.
We believe that all veterans, caregivers, families, and survivors, across every era of service, deserve fair, timely, and equitable access to the care, benefits, services, and recognition they have earned.
We are dedicated to ensuring that the VA Caregiver Program serves all it was intended to serve, free of unnecessary restrictions, and with strengthened benefits that meet the evolving needs of caregivers across all eras and reflect the daily sacrifices caregivers make.
We are committed to ensuring survivor benefits are strengthened to provide consistent, livable support that honors the sacrifice of the veteran and sustains the dignity of those left behind. These benefits must reflect the true cost of living, particularly in cases where the surviving spouse was also the caregiver and relied on the veteran’s compensation. No family who has borne the burden of service should face financial insecurity in its aftermath.
We strive to expand recognition and accountability for all individuals affected by toxic exposure, with appropriate adjudication by the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), comprehensive training, proper implementation of effective dates, and access to long-term care and compensation.
Through advocacy, assistance, education, navigation, outreach, research, supportive services, and systemic reform, we aim to build a future where no one who served or stood beside them is ever forgotten, underserved, or left to fight alone.
In our efforts to address the individual needs of the Veteran community, rather than a "one size fits all," we set an annual agenda for primary focus areas. However, we address all aspects of Veteran, caregiver, family, survivor, and military-related needs.
Two of our most significant projects currently are the VA Caregiver Program and Toxic Exposure, but we assist veteran families with all aspects of interacting with the VA.
The VA Caregiver Support Program provides a range of services to family caregivers. We help Veterans and their caregivers with applications, navigation, representation, and understanding of the evaluations and operational processes. We also guide appeals of incorrect adverse decisions, denial of participation, or inappropriate assignment to the level of care required following our thorough review of the medical records and the veteran's needs and eligibility.
We are active participants in a Toxic Exposure Task Force (TEAM Coalition) along with other Military Service Organizations (MSOs) and Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs). We provide expert and personal testimony regarding Burn Pits/Toxic Exposure. This includes specialization in the dangers of exposure and the illnesses that may result, as well as working with others to shape and enact the required legislation and inform the necessary Veterans Health Administration (VHA) care for affected veterans.
Assistance with navigating the VHA is needed to ensure veterans receive the care they require - and have earned.
Transitioning service members, families, survivors, and Veterans of all eras are supported by our team with a consistent point of contact to provide answers and assistance. VA Care is comprehensive but can also be intimidating to family members seeking healthcare for their veteran, and this is another way Veteran Warriors step in to help.

Influence
Veteran Warriors is well known for standing our ground, even if it means standing alone when it comes to doing what is right for the Veteran community.
Our team regularly participates in high-level round-table discussions and Congressional hearings regarding VA specialty programs, specifically the VA Caregiver Program and Burn Pits/Toxic Exposure. We have testified before Congress on VA disability claims and legislation for toxic exposure. Veteran Warriors sued the VA and won on the point of Supervision, Protection, or Instruction definition in our lawsuit regarding the VA Caregiver Support Program, requiring a new regulation. The ruling from our lawsuit brought the Interim Rule for Legacy participants in the VA Caregiver Program of September 2022, which extended participation for three years.
Policy Impact Veteran Warriors actively engages in federal rulemaking, legislative advocacy, and oversight processes. Our team provides testimony, submits regulatory comments, and collaborates with lawmakers to ensure veterans, caregivers, families, and survivors are represented in national policy decisions.
Systemic Change Through watchdog advocacy, we hold the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable for transparency, timeliness, and fairness. Our efforts have influenced reforms in caregiver programs, disability ratings, and benefits delivery, pushing the VA toward a more collaborative and responsive system.
Community Empowerment We amplify the voices of veterans and caregivers by equipping them with resources, guidance, and direct advocacy support. By uniting individuals under the principle “One Family, One Fight,” we transform personal struggles into collective action that drives change.
National Recognition Veteran Warriors is recognized as a trusted grassroots leader in veteran advocacy. Our work has been cited in congressional hearings, media coverage, and policy discussions, reinforcing our role as a bridge between the veteran community and decision-makers.
